My passion lies in crafting compelling fantasy and paranormal romances that both engage and surprise readers. I spent a lot of my time growing up writing short stories and going off into the imaginative world. Magical fantasy is my favourite genre, though I also read paranormal and romance. I’ve read so many fantasy books over the years and they continue to be my inspiration to keep writing and to follow my dreams. My passion for writing, and my history of anxiety and depression, led me to write the Soul Weavers Duology. With so many ideas floating around my head, I have many more books planned for future releases.
“Welcome to the featured author series! Today, I have the talented Chantelle Lambert joining me. Let's start by talking about what inspired you to write. How did your writing journey begin?”
Thank you for having me! I’ve been writing since I was around eight years old. I had a wild imagination, and loved making up stories in my head, which turned to writing short stories. They were horrible! But they grew as I did, and I wrote my first novel by the time I was 18 years old. I think I was most inspired by the idea of one day having my own imaginative stories out in the world.
“That's incredible! Isn't it amazing to see our passion for storytelling evolve over the years? Now, let's talk about your favourite genre to write.”
Anything between fantasy and paranormal romance. I love swoon worthy romance with a dash of spice (just not smut unless it’s necessary for the plot). I love being able to make up my own worlds, creatures and magic.
“It sounds like a fantastic blend of creativity and romance. Now, let's turn our attention to aspiring writers. What advice would you give to those who are just starting their writing journey?”
I would tell them not to give up on their dreams. Writing takes practice, and your book will never be perfect (no book is).
“That's wonderful advice, Chantelle. Writing is definitely a journey of growth and perseverance. I would also recommend they checkout the course you offer on your website. It’s a tool I myself wish I had starting out. Now, let's dive into your writing routine. Could you share a bit about how you approach your writing process?”
I often get an idea in my head and start planning it out on my phone. My outlines are never full, just a rough dot point list of where I want the story to go. I start writing and I keep track of character descriptions, locations, etc as I go. So, I’m a pantser with some outlining as I go.
“That's an interesting approach. It's fascinating to see how different authors find their own unique methods. Now, for a fun question to wrap up our interview: cake or ice cream?”
Ice Cream all the way!
“Ice cream it is, then! Thank you so much for sharing your writing journey and insights with us. It's been a pleasure having you here today. If you’d like to check out Chantelle's work, simply click on the books displayed below. And if you want to stay updated on her journey, you can follow her through the social media links provided.”
Thank you for having me. It's been a pleasure talking with you. Happy writing to all the aspiring authors out there!
