Author Bio:

Affectionately known to my fans as "The Madman of Scribe, or, simply ‘Crow’ I’m a Minnesota native and US Army veteran. I’m also a huge fan of philosophy, adrenaline fueled adventures, heavy metal, and horror movies. I split time between my home state and the beautiful Caribbean island of Puerto Rico (to avoid the frigid Minnesota winters)

To date, I have published four books, including my memoir "The Midnight Crow" that deals with my lifetime struggles with substance abuse, violent tendencies, and multiple tragedies, and "Crow Feathers" Poems from the Dark, a collection of macabre poetry. My latest two offerings are both from ‘The Crow Diaries’ trilogy of graphic horror/crime thrillers, and they include, “Moonbaby” Volume One, and “Scarecrow” Volume Two. Filled with graphic sex, violence, murder, and mayhem, at its core it’s a twisted love story. It features an incredible, unforgettable female main character, Moonbaby herself. The highly anticipated trilogy finale ‘War Child’ is due out in early April. All four of my books are available on Amazon and Kindle.

Author Questions:

“Troy, welcome! Let’s dive right in—how much research do you typically do for your books?”

It really depends on the book. For instance, for my upcoming teen outlaw crime thriller, Gypsy Leigh, I’ve spent a lot of time researching law enforcement tactics, along with weapon types and ammunition, and lastly, every little detail pertaining to the two MC’s car, a 1971 Plymouth Barracuda.

“That’s some serious detail! Any other research projects on your radar?”

Funny you ask. I’ve been toying with the idea of writing a smut novel—if for no other reason than the tiring but oh so rewarding research. Wink, wink.

“Love that. Alright, describe yourself in one word.”

Insufferable. Just kidding. Not really.

“Haha, noted. Let’s talk process — what’s your writing routine like?”

Right now, I’m in my offseason from work, currently living in the mountains of Puerto Rico, so I have tons of time. My days are spent writing, researching, or revising, from sunrise to bedtime—basically 14 to 16 hours a day.

“That’s dedication. Ever get writer’s block?”

Easy. I’m one of the fortunate few who never get it. My mind never shuts up. Or, my mouth.

“Alright, time for a curveball. You’re on death row — what’s your last meal?”

A tranquilizer.

“Wow, okay! Fair. Favorite 90s or early 2000s song?”

Sober by Tool.

“Solid choice. Where do you draw your inspiration from?”

Other authors I admire, like Poe, Lovecraft, or more recently, Thomas Ligotti. Horror movies and real-life crime dramas too. And of course, my dark past. A lot of books could be written from all of those insane experiences alone.

“Now that’s intriguing. How do you handle criticism?”

Usually I throw a tantrum, then threaten a lawsuit. Nah, I just ignore them, to be honest. Part of being a writer.

“And last one, if you could be any animal, what would you choose and why?”

A Kangaroo. So I could hop around the Australian outback with a bottle of Chivas Regal stuffed in my cool pouch.
