“Bleeding truth into fiction — one scream at a time.”
I'm Kailah Roehl, a horror writer and poet from the Midwest with a love for the eerie, neurospooky, and emotionally raw. My work often explores the tangled spaces between fear, memory, and the mind. I'm a passionate animal lover, a chronically ill warrior navigating life with resilience, and a dedicated homeschool teacher. Every day, I balance the haunting and the heartfelt—on the page and off.
“Welcome, everyone! Today I’m thrilled to sit down with a unique voice in the world of horror and poetry — the brilliantly spooky Kailah Roehl. Kailah, thanks for joining me!”
Thanks so much for having me! I’m excited to be here.
“Alright, we’re kicking things off with a classic warm-up. Describe yourself in one word.”
Artist.
“I love it. Now, your stories have a serious bite to them — pun intended — how much research do you actually do for your books?”
Tons! I watch movies, read books, and dive on the internet for knowledge. Especially the way blood spurts, or anything medical. I want my gore to be believable.
My poetry I don't have research besides experience.
“That’s dedication. So you're not just winging it — you're making sure that blood sprays accurately. Respect. Let’s take it back. What first inspired you to write?”
As a kid, my mom made me watch an older movie, The Waking of Ned Devine, and for whatever reason that sparked a little writer. I grabbed my bulky, and now ancient IBM laptop and wrote my first screenplay.
“That’s amazing. Nothing like a classic film and an ancient laptop to start a legacy. Now for something a little tougher — how do you handle criticism?”
I tell myself I'm a boss b*tch, take a hit, and move on. Writing is subjective and mine can be triggering.
“That’s the energy we love around here. Speaking of bold choices — if you could be any animal, what would you be?”
My mini dachshund. He sleeps most the day, gets treats, and belly rubs. That's the life I want.
“I mean... same. That’s the dream. Okay, now give us a gem — what advice would you give to aspiring writers out there?”
Rejections are proof of progress. Keep writing, growing, and learning!
“Solid gold. So, what’s next for you?”
I have one book so far, but I'm working on my first Erotic Horror series.
“Erotic Horror? Now that’s a genre I’m dying to read. Kailah, thank you so much for being here and sharing your mind with us.”
Thank you so much for the opportunity to be in this!
“To the readers:
Be sure to follow Kailah on social media, links are down below. Show your support by grabbing a copy of their books, diving into those fantasy worlds, and most importantly, leave a review. We live for that feedback, and it helps more than you know.
Until next time!”
